Raiders Finish Runner-Up at LPGE Invitational

The Bertha-Hewitt-Verndale Raider boys track and field team traveled to Long Prairie-Grey Eagle High School on Tuesday, April 21, to compete in the LPGE Invitational.

The Raiders turned in their best team performance of the season, finishing second out of nine teams with 122.5 points. Pillager claimed the team title with 142.5 points.

The Raiders were led by multiple first-place finishes. Dylan Day continued his strong season with a win in the 400-meter dash and added a second-place finish in the 200 meters. Brady Rach captured first place in the 800-meter run, while the 4x400-meter relay team of Day, Henry Lockwood, Gunnar Barthel, and Rach also earned a first-place finish. The 4x800-meter relay team of Lockwood, Jakub Stovicek, Nolan Rach, and Barthel added another victory.

In the distance events, Henry Lockwood placed second in the 1600 meters, followed by Nolan Rach is in third, and Jakub Stovicek is in fourth. Charlie Johnson added a third-place finish in the 3200 meters, while Vance Lockwood placed eighth in the 800 meters.

The Raiders showed depth in the hurdle events, with Tristan Adams placing fourth and Jayden Herner finished fifth in the 110-meter hurdles. In the 300-meter hurdles, Barthel finished third, Adams fourth, and Herner sixth...
