Raiders participate in Long Prairie meet

On Thursday, May 1, the Bertha-Hewitt-Verndale Raiders boys Track and Field team traveled to Long Prairie for a competitive seven-team meet.

Despite less-than-ideal conditions—temperatures in the mid-40s, persistent rain, and strong north winds—the Raiders delivered a strong performance.

Due to the inclement weather, coaches made the strategic decision to withdraw athletes from select events to prioritize safety and prevent injury.

Several Raiders placed in the top six and contributed to the team’s overall score:

Gage Barthel – 6th place, 100 Meter Dash (12.36)

Gunnar Barthel – 2nd place, 800 Meter Run (2:16.55)

Isaac Radniecki – 1st place, High Jump (5’4”); 6th place, 800 Meter Run (2:25.57)

Brady Rach – 1st place, 3200 Meter Run (9:56.01)

Ethan Snorek – 3rd place, 110 Meter Hurdles (17.41); 5th place, 300 Meter Hurdles (48.29)

Relay teams also earned points for the Raiders:

4x100 Meter Relay (Gage Barthel, Dylan Day, Quintin Flynn, Trenton Becker) – 3rd place (48.66)...

On Thursday, May 1, the Lady Raiders participated in the Long Prairie Grey Eagle Invitational.

The girls placed 4th out of 7 teams.

Placing in the top 8 and scoring for the Raiders were: Lezah Dean - 400m (1st - 1:04.21), Miette Hansel - 400m (5th, 1:11.10), Mckayla Kapphahn - 800 meters (4th - 2:54.53) and 1600 meters (4th, 6:23.09), Kendra Miller - 800 meters (1st - 2:31.41), Ella Banister - 3200 meters (2nd - 13:45.13), Aulani Johnson - 100m hurdles (6th - 19.36) and 300m hurdles (8th, 57.53), Payton Allen - shot put (5th - 28’5.75”)...
