The Eagle Valley Senior High Team “The Snipe Hunters” took first place in the Prairie Conference Meet hosted by Eagle Valley on February 26, at Faith Lutheran Church, Eagle Bend. The team members were: Simon Weber, Mike Pontius, Sarah Booker, Travis Drayna, and Jeff Holmquist. Schools involved were Eagle Valley, Royalton, Upsala, Osakis, and Swanville. In the past 10 years of competition, the local school team has placed first for six years and second for four years.

The season came to a heartbreaking but very exciting end on Monday night in Osakis as we lost to Parkers Prairie in overtime. We came into the game with a split during the year with Parkers and we knew this was going to be an exciting game. Everyone on the team contributed on both ends of the floor, so did the Parkers team. We had trouble topping Casey Dodds inside the first quarter but then Mike Pontius got much tougher on him and kept him in check during the second and third quarters.

The senior class of Eagle Bend High School, while in the process of planning a senior class trip, decided their funds were inadequate. Thus planned for Saturday, March 11, a senior class smorgasbord to be held from 5-9 p.m. in the school cafeteria. The menu will include: ham, meatloaf, and chicken, as well as other obvious smorgasbord treats like potatoes, vegetables, salads, and dessert.
