The Eagle Bend Volunteer Fire Department answered two calls on Monday, June 12. The first call, at approximately 1 p.m., was to the Jim Gabler farm to extinguish a fire in their pickup truck. Mrs. Gabler had attempted to start the truck when it apparently backfired and began to smoke. The second call at approximately 7 p.m. was the Mervin Johnson residence. This was also a vehicle fire that burned the wiring of the auto before being extinguished.
