Steve Maland has been hired as the manager of the Eagle Bend Municipal Liquor Store. He began his new position on May 1 following the retirement of Manager Betty Gabler. Maland has considerable experience in the restaurant and liquor industry. He was a manager at the Holiday Inn, Alexandria, for six years and an assistant manager of the Payless Liquor, also in Alexandria, the past two years.

Chuck Godding, 14-year member of the Eagle Valley School Board, submitted his resignation during the May board meeting. He and his family will be moving out of the district at the end of the current school year. Godding thanked the people of the district for their trust in electing him to the school board.

The Eagle Bend News will be mailed Thursday of next week due to Memorial Day on Monday, May 26. News will be accepted at the Eagle Bend office until noon on Tuesday for next week only.

The Eagle Bend girls track team again showed their fans what Eagle spirit can do by winning the second Prairie Conference championship. They are the only girls team to hold this distinction, as they were the team that took the first conference championship.
