News from Eagle Bend's Past


25 Years Ago

June 7, 2000

The Eagle Valley Girl Scout Troop held their awards night last week. Pictured is Shashonna Ahrendt receiving her award for selling the most cookies. She sold 437 boxes. The girls said the Pledge of Allegiance and their Girl Scout Promise before the program.

Alfred and Eva Schroeder decided the interfaith chapel at Chapel Gardens needed a new paint job. Eva called upon a former student, Harlan Tenhoff, of Osakis, to come and paint the chapel. Eva, who recently celebrated her 80th birthday, taught school near Osakis prior to her marriage to Alfred. Harlan was one of her eighth grade students. Pictured, Harlan and Albert Morisette, his assistants, prepared the chapel for painting, and Eva was busy weeding the flower beds.


50 Years Ago

June 12, 1975

The Outstanding Achievement Award was given to Karen Krause, 1974-75 Safety Committee secretary; Robert Nolz and Ralph Kern, 1975-76 safety chairman; Robert Rupp, editor for the Farmer Magazine; and Myron Oftedahl, 1975-76 FFA president. Rupp presented the award on behalf of Governor Wendell Anderson.

The postal service is investigating new quarters for the Eagle Bend Post Office. Forms are available at the local post office in order to make known any property available.
