News from Eagle Bend's Past

25 Years Ago

January 3, 2001

“Mom was worried to start with”, said Mike Pontius. “She came out and watched the Nationals but she doesn’t like it a lot and will be glad when it’s over!” Mike was referring to his intercollegiate boxing as a Cadet at the United States Air Force Academy. Mike is the son of Jim and Pam Pontius, rural Eagle Bend. He graduated from Eagle Valley High School with the class of 1997.

On Saturday, December 23, All Un-Chained performed at the Assembly of God Church in Eagle Bend. The concert was held to help raise funds for the recording of their CD. Approximately 100 people were at the dance. They performed songs they have written that will appear on their upcoming CD, along with a few remakes of popular songs.

50 Years Ago

January 8, 1976

A crowd of over 200 people attended the first Lions sponsored ice race this past Sunday. In the track and parking area they were serving coffee, old fashioned wieners, pop and candy bars on the southwest side of the ice track.

The Eagle Bend PTSA Mid Winter Carnival will be held on Saturday, January 10, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Eagle Bend School. It will be a night of community fun with games, prizes and lunch.
