News from Eagle Bend's Past

January 17, 2001

Michelle Lang, representing Lakewood Health System Foundation, Staples, gave a presentation on fundraising to members of the Eagle Bend Area Development Committee at their January 10 meeting. Her recommendations included a silent auction followed by a live auction selling services to be provided by local business people. The EBADC is attempting to raise $142,000 to build a new park within the city of Eagle Bend. Actually, calling it an outdoor recreation facility would be more accurate as plans call for walking paths, a basketball court, sand volleyball court, picnic area and shelter, and playground equipment.

Some 200 Eagle Bend, Long Prairie, Browerville, Clarissa, Bertha and Hewitt people enjoyed a real good time at the Lions sponsored annual Las Vegas Night held at Sandy Beach. A fine meal was served and some real good music was provided by the Ole Green Band.
