Michelle Lang, representing Lakewood Health System Foundation, Staples, gave a presentation on fundraising to members of the Eagle Bend Area Development Committee at their January 10 meeting. Her recommendations included a silent auction followed by a live auction selling services to be provided by local business people. The EBADC is attempting to raise $142,000 to build a new park within the city of Eagle Bend. Actually, calling it an outdoor recreation facility would be more accurate as plans call for walking paths, a basketball court, sand volleyball court, picnic area and shelter, and playground equipment.

Back in August when the student handbook data was being reviewed, some of Eagle Valley’s school board members succeeded in tabling a section that would have called for a doctor’s excuse for absence by illness. It was brought back to the table at the board’s January 8 meeting. “Some of us had felt we can’t, as a parent, take a kid to the doctor every time they’re ill,” said Chairman Bob Winkler, “But we have situations where kids are missing 15 or more days...and there was a lot of sickness during deer hunting!”

January 22, 1976
Some 200 Eagle Bend, Long Prairie, Browerville, Clarissa, Bertha and Hewitt people enjoyed a real good time at the Lions sponsored annual Las Vegas Night held at Sandy Beach. A fine meal was served and some real good music was provided by the Ole Green Band.

The Eagle Bend Mid-Winter Carnival will be held on Saturday, January 24, from 6-10, at the Eagle Bend School. Profits help support scholarships and reading programs.
