At the June 11 meeting of the Eagle Valley School Board, its members were faced with deciding whether to grant waivers to six students who are having problems meeting the Graduation Standards. The Minnesota Legislature mandated, for students to graduate from a Minnesota High School they must complete a certain number of standards, beginning with he class of 2002. Eagle Valley has established 16 standards for graduation. Presently the board can approve waivers if a student is unable to take a specific class, takes one that does not have a standard or for a student who moves into the district from a school that has different standards. Six students requested waivers to be presented by Principal Lundgren. After a thorough discussion of each request, the board felt they had no choice but to approve the waivers.
