One of Eagle Bend’s new part-time police officers is John DeCock, whose hometown is Lamberton, Minnesota. He was a classmate of Chief of Police Dustin Alexander while both attended and graduated with AAS degrees from the Alexandria Technical College’s two-year law enforcement program. John will be on duty in Eagle Bend about six days a month.

Tammy Riedel was hired as the junior high volleyball coach and Andy Lancaster as an assistant football coach. High school math teacher Dennis Schimke had submitted his resignation. He was offered a similar position at North Dakota State University.

50 Years Ago

August 26, 1976

Area men were busy on Sunday as harvest at the Don Robbin farm was in full operation. Equipment used was an old thresher belonging to Don Robbin and two 1936 John Deere tractors were on the grain binder. The operator was Francis Kapphahn.

The final round of play in the Todd County 4-H slow pitch softball league was completed on Sunday, August 15. Results of games played were Sod Busters over Golden Gate by a forfeit; Little Sauk Bluejays, 14, and Golden Gophers 2; and Iona Rockbusters over Lucky Leaf.
