On September 11, the Petal Pushers Garden Club awarded cash prizes to the two largest sunflowers brought in by the sixth graders at Eagle Valley Elementary. Shawn Riski took the grand prize, first place went to Melanie Weishair, and second place was Patrick Perish.

At the Eagle Valley School Board’s September 10 meeting, the board discussed asking the voters to approve a referendum at the November 6 election. According to the figures from the county, the average house in the district has a market value of $80,000. The new referendum would increase those taxes about $67. The local levy could raise $40,805. State aid, based on the referendum, would bring in about $128,000.

Homecoming activities started on Thursday night with the Student Council sponsored variety show and queen coronation. The 1975 Homecoming Queen Janet Moller crowned the 1976-77 Homecoming Queen Joan Holt at the conclusion of the Variety Show.

The Eagle Bend Lions Club hosted area Lions Club members from Bertha and Long Prairie last Tuesday evening at the Eagle Bend Lion’s Recreational Park. Approximately 15 members from each of the other clubs were in attendance. They enjoyed a softball tournament and some tennis.
