On Saturday, September 21, select band and choir students from Eagle Valley spent the day at Minnewaska Area High School with students from other schools practicing selections which they performed in concert in the afternoon of that day. Participating from Eagle Valley were: Amanda Hubbard, Doug LaDue, Arin Stoterau, Amber Benning, Jill Pontius and Alesha Murch.

David Durheim of Eagle Bend took first place in the 4-H Junior Yearling Simmental Heifer Class at the Minnesota State Fair. DeeAnn Durheim, 15, of Todd County, received Grand Champion at the Minnesota State 4-H Sheep Show on September 2. DeeAnn, the daughter of Delvin and Debra Durheim of Eagle Bend, is a member of the Wykeham Willing Workers 4-H Club.

September 30, 1971
Last Thursday evening during the Variety Show a new queen was crowned for the coming year. Miss Barbara Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Johnson of rural Eagle Bend, was the lucky lass who received the crown. Barbara stated that she was thrilled and happy to have been elected as the queen and hoped that she can live up to the expectations of such a role. After hearing a song dedicated to her by Lenora Weinerth, she continued to reign over a successful Variety Show.

Seven students from the Eagle Bend area are enrolled at the Alexandria Technical School, according to enrollment reports on August 30. Students from Eagle Bend include: Basel R. Evens, industrial drafting; Randall M. Hess, farm equipment mechanic; Richard C. Mittag, production agriculture; Donald R. Morcomb, avionics; Ronald S. Motl, production agriculture; and Dana W. Rodgers, appliance repair.
