Scammers using sheriff’s office phone number
The Todd County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of a phone scam circulating in the area. Residents of Todd County have reported they have received phone calls from a phone number that matches the sheriff’s office phone number which is 320-732-2157. The caller is acting as if they’re a member of the sheriff’s office.
We want to remind the public to be mindful of phone calls received from unrecognized or recognized phone numbers. Never give personal information such as social security numbers, home addresses, banking information, etc.
If you do receive a phone call from a law enforcement officer, verify their agency. If you are not certain about the identity of the officer, hang up and call back that specific agency.
