Schools opening discussed at town hall meeting

by Trinity Gruenberg
Tri-County Health Care (TCHC) held a virtual town hall meeting on September 1 to discuss schools opening during the ongoing pandemic. This included comments from TCHC CEO Joel Beiswenger, Chief Medical Officer Ben Hess, Director of Regional Programs at Sourcewell Paul Drange, and Wadena-Deer Creek Superintendent Lee Westrum.
Wadena County COVID case numbers have seen an increase, nearly doubling in August.
Tri-County Health Care is averaging 17-20 COVID tests per day reaching nearly a two percent positivity rate. Projections indicate an October-November surge in cases. With schools opening it does increase the potential risk and transmission of the disease.
The hospital is re-mobilizing services including their satellite clinics to see symptomatic patients and does allow one visitor per patient. They continue to use safety precautions to create a safer environment. . . .
