Schulz Receives Supervisor of the Year Award

The Minnesota Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts (MASWCD) leadership presented Wadena Soil and Water Conservation District’s (SWCD) Board Supervisor, Tom Schulz, with the 2025 Supervisor of the Year award at its annual convention held in early December.

The award honors a supervisor who has demonstrated leadership and achieved significant results in the conservation of Minnesota’s soil and water resources.

Agriculture and conservation have always been the backbone of the Wadena County native’s personal and professional career. Schulz was sworn in as a board supervisor on January 20, 1975, and since then, has continuously strived to accomplish the same primary goal: applying conservation to the land.

Looking back over the past 50 years, Schulz witnessed many positive and negative changes in agriculture and conservation within Wadena County; however, his view on being involved with the Wadena SWCD has remained unchanged...
