The Search for Carla Anderson Continues with $25,000 Reward Offered

A $25,000 reward is being offered for information in the disappearance of Carla Beth Anderson, 23, who was last seen in her Wadena apartment nearly 40 years ago.
At a press conference on Monday, June 15, at the Wadena City Administration building, Superintendent Drew Evans of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and Chief Naomi Plautz of the Wadena Police Department, called on the public to come forward with any memories or tips, no matter how small.
Chief Plautz recounted the last known hours of Carla’s life.
“Friday, November 13, 1987 was a big night for Carla,” Plautz said. “She had received an award from her former Hardee’s employer, where she worked, and celebrated with her mother and her stepfather by going out to dinner and renting movies.”
After the celebration, Carla’s family dropped her off at her apartment at the Greenwood Apartments, near Second Street Northwest and Hemlock Avenue, at around 8 p.m. That was the last time anyone is known to have seen her.
Carla’s apartment door was locked, and her purse was still inside. There were no signs of a break-in and no signs of a struggle. The only things missing from her apartment were her keys and her Hardee’s jacket. One of the rented movies was still inside her VCR.
Carla was described as a vulnerable adult, standing 4 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 80 pounds, with strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes.
“We are confident she would not have chosen to disappear,” Plautz added.
Over nearly four decades, investigators from the Wadena Police Department, the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office, and the Minnesota BCA have poured thousands of hours into the case...
