Todd County Board of Commissioners: Hold off on OSHA mandate related to COVID-19

by Karin L. Nauber

After a lengthy discussion, the Todd County Board of Commissioners opted to hold off on making a decision related to an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) mandate.

The board action for discussion at the meeting stated, “Federal OSHA has issued an Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) on vaccination and testing. Minnesota OSHA has adopted the Federal OSHA ETS. Minnesota employers with 100 plus employees are required to follow the ETS.

“While awaiting further legal decisions on the ETS, a Vaccination, Testing and Face Covering policy has been developed for review and potential adoption, to meet the requirements and deadlines for the Federal and Minnesota OSHA mandates of January 10, 2022, for vaccination status and February 9 for testing and face coverings for those unvaccinated.”

County Coordinator Chris Pelzer said that the county could be in violation of the OSHA mandate if they do nothing. . .
