The Verndale City Council held its regular meeting on Monday, April 10.

Verndale Days

Brian Hagen discussed Verndale Days. He would like to have a minor vendor fee for people setting up booths during the festivities to help manage costs for Verndale Days. The council discussed they used to do that in the past, except for non-profit organizations. Hagen asked what the legalities are. It’s difficult to collect a fee if people can set up for free on a public sidewalk. They would have to change the city ordinance to require a license to sell on a public sidewalk. Hagen just wants a level playing field for everyone.

Hagen asked if he could set up a liquor booth. He obtained the correct license to set up anywhere. Mayor Tara Erckenbrack said the city probably wouldn’t appreciate it as it would be direct competition for the liquor store. . .
