Verndale local releases album

by Trinity Gruenberg

Fulfilling a 20-year long dream, Jeremiah Kern of Verndale has released an EP (Extended Play which means a musical recording containing more tracks than a single but fewer than an album), Drifting Cowboy.

Kern is the owner of Hay Creek Entertainment, a professional labor company (he jokingly calls his crew glorified roadies). They assist in setting up production for entertainment-related events. Unfortunately, the pandemic brought their work to a halt.

He took most of this downtime to enjoy hunting, trapping, gardening, making maple syrup and just overall enjoying the great outdoors. But it also inspired him to set his mission in motion to record his songs.

Kern, who considers himself a “campfire artist”, decided to finally record some of his original songs. There are six songs on the EP. The songs were written in the early 2000s when he was learning to play the guitar.

“I knew a handful of chords and I had these different thoughts and lyrics that would come to mind and I just started putting music to them,” explained Kern. . .
