Verndale School Board: COVID funds end; looking at $170,000+ in cuts

The Verndale School Board held its regular meeting on May 1.
Administrative Reports
Greg Johnson, dean of students and activities director, reported post-season for spring sports will begin soon. Softball playoffs begin May 22, track and field sub-section meet will be May 25, baseball playoffs begin May 30 and the golf section tournament will begin June 5.
They are on schedule to get all their contests in. And are working on a contract with Astera for coverage of home events. They didn’t have a trainer and will now have a certified athletic trainer on site.
Principal Katie Bolland reported that Teacher Appreciation Week is May 1-5, and the Educators of Excellence banquet is May 3 and they will honor Jennifer Cameron and Brian Hartwig. . .
