in Nimrod
In 2016, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) returned TH227 to Wadena County. At that time, the county acquired all associated right-of-way through a Quitclaim Deed. This included part of Reserve Lot D in Section 32, Township 137, Range 33, within the city of Nimrod, referred to in the Quitclaim Deed as Parcel 23.
The mayor of Nimrod expressed interest to the Highway Department about this parcel, as the city is considering establishing a street connection between a recently approved development within the city limits and County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 12.
The development is expected to include approximately 10-13 residential lots. The county will retain a 50-foot right-of-way on both sides of the existing county roads. The board agreed to proceed with the process of transferring the land to the city, with the understanding that the city will assume responsibility for road maintenance. The goal is to facilitate the development and improve access for the new residential area.
The board approved the land transfer process to the city, with the intention of supporting the new residential development and enhancing road access....
