August 1 was the day that the Wadena City Library had set as a goal and had been working towards for a few years to move to their new location. And that is just what they did...open their doors in their new home at the former First National Bank building.

“What this building has offered us is more space to spread out,” said Branch Manger Renee Frethem.

The former library had been in use since 1985. Prior to that, the library was housed in the school’s auditorium.

A draft of the needs assessment was conducted in November of 2016, and the community backed them up saying a larger space was needed.

The city of Wadena took out a $3 million bond for the new building, but not all of the funds were used. . .
