Bears Fall to Henning in Three-Set Match
The Bertha-Hewitt Bears volleyball team fell to the Henning Hornets 3-0 in a three-set match. Kendal Beyatt and Jasmine Williams led the Bears offensively with nine kills each. Beyatt finished with nine kills on 24 attacks for a .208 hitting percentage, while Williams recorded nine kills on 21 attacks for a .238 hitting percentage. Pirates Celebrate Homecoming with 41-6 Win over McGregor
by Coach Mike Mahlen The Verndale Pirates celebrated Homecoming with a 41-6 victory over the McGregor Mercuries on Friday, October 2. Verndale took control early, scoring twice in the first quarter. Owen Weiher connected with Chase Jensen on a 28-yard touchdown pass, with Joe Elfstrum running in the two-point conversion to give the Pirates an 8-0 lead. Weiher then found Jensen again for a 22-yard touchdown. The extra-point attempt failed, leaving Verndale with a 14-0 lead.
