The weather finally decided to cooperate with the golf season. There was a total of 25 golfers with 4 teams participating, and SMV took 3rd place. With spring golf comes a wide range of weather and course conditions, along with very limited opportunities for on-course practice. Players aren’t able to fully prepare until courses open and allow them out. by Matt Uselman The Staples-Motley-Verndale girls golf team traveled to Sartell on Monday the 4th to participate in a 6AA Presections meet. There were 8 teams with 53 girls competing. The team finished in 6th place, led by Katelyn Schotzko’s 89. Mara Uselman shot a 112 to finish in 38th place. On Tuesday May 5th the girls held a home meet at The Vintage at Staples. Katelyn Schotzko led the team with an 8th place finish 98. Mara Uselman shot a 102 for a 12th place finish.
