Bears drop Thunder to start playoffs

The Bertha-Hewitt Bears took on the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Thunder in their first game in the Section 5A playoffs, defeating the Thunder 69 – 43.
The Bears took control of the game from the tip with Carissa Winscher scoring the first basket for the Bears followed by Ashley Warren connecting from deep a minute later. With back-to-back baskets by Rochelle Dean and another by Ava Bauch, the Bears built a 12 – 2 lead over the opening 3 minutes of play.
In the first half, the Bears really looked to get everyone involved getting 10 assists on the 14 made shots. Eight different Bertha-Hewitt players had at least 1 assist. The Bears headed into the half with baskets by Bauch and Dean to take a 35 – 19 lead. . .
