Bears got hooked by Pirates, snatch the lead from Eagles

The Bears wrapped up conference play this week, facing the Verndale Pirates on Tuesday in an exciting matchup that ended in a 72-66 loss.

Later in the week, the Bears traveled to New York Mills to take on the Eagles, securing a 70-62 victory.

On Tuesday night, the Bears hosted the Pirates in a crucial conference and section game. The Bears started hot, shooting nearly 50 percent in the first half and jumping out to a commanding 13-0 lead before the Pirates called a timeout.

The momentum continued as the lead grew to 18 points, with the Bears ahead 30-12 before the Pirates found their rhythm.

The Bears’ defense created turnovers, and the team made smart decisions with the basketball, leading to high-quality shots.

However, the Pirates caught fire from beyond the arc, cutting the lead to seven points by halftime, 38-31....
