Bears teams claim victory at Pillager Invitational

The Bertha-Hewitt Cross Country traveled to Pillager on Thursday, September 20 for the annual Pillager Invitational. The Bears were able to sweep the varsity team titles as the girls and boys claimed victory!
The girls varsity had a very impressive showing with Kendra Miller winning the overall title in 22:43.6 on a very challenging and hilly course.
Placing second overall was Miette Hansel in 23:04.9 and finishing third overall was Ella Banister in 23:39.5.
Rounding out the varsity team was Lezah Dean 7th (25:14.6), Aulani Johnson 10th (25:58.6), Eva Blashack 16th (29:04.8) and Mckayla Kapphahn 17th (29:09.1).
Team scoring for the top 3 went as follows: Bertha-Hewitt 23, Pillager 50 and Ottertail Central 51.
The boys varsity had an equally impressive day in Pillager. Brady Rach finished first overall in 19:32.1 followed by Henry Lockwood in 2nd (19:52.2) and Gunnar Barthel in third (19:52.7).
Rounding out the varsity team for the boys was Jalen Hinzmann in 6th (21:09.4), Gavin Brown in 7th (21:18.2) and William Brandsma in 19th (24:01.2).
Team scoring for the top 3 went as follows: Bertha-Hewitt 19, Ottertail Central 38 and Pillager 75....
