Bears win the day but lose in section quarterfinals

The Bertha-Hewitt Bears Football Team matched up with the Brandon/Evansville Chargers in the first round of Section 4 - 9 Man Football Playoffs on Tuesday. The evening saw gusty winds over the 25 mph mark. The previous match-up resulted in a 66-6 Brandon/Evansville route of the Bears in Bertha.
The Bears came out strong and ready to play, scoring on the opening drive of the game with a touchdown pass.
“It was really great to see us get a strong start to a big game. We have struggled to execute early in games but tonight we showed real mental toughness,” said Coach Hoemberg.
Both teams moved the football up and down the field in the first half, despite the gusty winds and cold conditions. . .
