Becker Leads Local Girls at Rumble on the Red

The Bertha-Hewitt-Verndale-Parkers Prairie (BHVPP) girls’ wrestling team tested its skills against top-tier regional talent this past weekend at the prestigious Rumble on the Red tournament. Leading the charge was Autumn Becker, who earned “Wrestler of the Tourney honors for the BHVPP Raiders” after an excellent 4-2 performance in the 124-pound division.
Autumn Becker put together a marathon performance, finishing the tournament with a 4-2 record. Becker showcased her pinning power in the consolation rounds, recording falls over opponents from Minot, Byron, and UNCW before her run ended in the consolation sub-quarters. Coaches noted her superb hand control on the bottom, which allowed her to wrestle deep into matches and wear down opponents with relentless top pressure. Becker battled through to the final rounds, falling just short of the podium with a loss before the “blood round.”
Zoie Dunn (142 lbs) provided early highlights for the team, starting her tournament “hot” with back-to-back victories. Dunn secured a dominant 14-4 major decision in her opening match and followed it up with a gritty 14-11 decision over Aareynnia American Horse.
