Bertha-Hewitt Boys Cross Country qualifies for State Cross Country meet

Bertha-Hewitt scored 62 points last week at the Section 6A meet held at the Vintage Golf Course in Staples. The Bears were barely beaten by the host school Staples-Motley who scored 56 but easily beat 3rd place team finisher Sauk Centre who finished with 100 points.

Senior Brandon Kampsen of Sauk Centre was the individual champion with a time of 16:04. Freshman Brady Rach and Junior Zane Guderjahn lead the Bears team placing second and third respectively and running 16:43 and 16:48.

ā€œBrady was in the top 5 most of the race and Zane was in like 10th one mile into the race and just kept moving up and finished strong. The 2nd and 3rd place finish was awesome,ā€ stated Coach Hanson. . .
