BHVPP Girls Wrestling: Wagner Takes Top Honors as Team Shows Grit and Growth

The Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale/Parkers Prairie (BHVPP) girls wrestling team showcased their “attack mindset” this past weekend, delivering a series of hard-fought performances highlighted by dominant victories and significant individual growth.
Autumn Becker (2-2) 124 - DNP (7 pts)
Autumn Becker (8-8) 8th, BHVP over Addison Tuckner (4-10) So., ELRI (F 1:42)
Trinity Kurzenberger (8-4) 7th, UNCW over Autumn Becker (8-8) 8th, BHVP (MD 19-7)
Autumn Becker (8-8) 8th, BHVP over Jazzmyn Lureen (0-2) Sr., MOOR (F 4:11)
Rachel Tumberg (14-5) So., NYM over Autumn Becker (8-8) 8th, BHVP (F 1:47)
After being sick a few days early in the week, she battled hard and gave her opponents all they could handle. Autumn picked up two wins by fall in the first period. However, the most exciting match of her day came in her second round loss to Trinity Kurzenberger from UNC. It was a wild and exciting match that saw a number of lead changes and lots of scoring opportunities. Autumn’s inexperience cost her the match but she gained valable mat knowledge from the many different situations that she scrambled through during the match.
Chloe Black (0-2) 136 - DNP (0 pts)
Jadyn Eichberg (9-6) Sr., BEMI over Chloe Black (6-13) So., BHVP (F 3:43)
Addison Hillukka (8-4) So., WDC over Chloe Black (6-13) So., BHVP (F 1:41)
In the toughest weight bracket in the tournament, and with a bad draw, she was on the attack with no fear, looking to score at every opportunity. Chloe put in a lot of off-season work, and even though it did not help her secure a win this weekend, it helped her get to some very good positions. She was not able to finish her shots, which will become a focus over the next few weeks of practice. Chloe’s attack mindset will continue to help her develop this season.
