Breakfast on the Farm to Showcase Beef Operation

Visitors will have the opportunity to see a modern beef operation up close when Mike and Barb James host this year’s Breakfast on the Farm at their rural Browerville farm.
The James family raises beef calves weighing between 400 and 850 pounds and finishes approximately 500 to 600 head a year on their 116-acre farm, located just south of Don’s Store off Highway 21. They also rent out hay land and grow corn to feed their cattle.
Mike has been around cattle for most of his life.
“I grew up on a hobby farm as a kid,” he said.
Although they have managed this operation for about 16 years, Mike has been raising cattle for around 35 years.
Barb grew up on the farm. The place was originally split between her father and brother.
They moved to the farm in 2010 to lend a hand. Barb and Mike took over the operation in 2016, after her father’s passing.
