On July 3, Browerville Farmers Co-op Feed Store, located at 501 Railroad Avenue, will close its doors after serving the community for 102 years (since 1923).

The co-op was essential to the many dairy farmers in the area. It provided agricultural and general products to support area farmers and local residents.

As the small dairy farms began to fade away, the co-op had to find other ways to remain profitable. They added seed, feed, lawn and garden supplies, hardware, and tires. Additionally, equipment repair services and contract rentals were offered.

In 2015, the Farmers Co-op Feed Store merged with Pro-Ag Farmers Cooperative, a move that expanded the cooperative’s ability to serve its members in a rapidly changing farming economy. The Pro-Ag Farmers Cooperative was established on January 1, 1998 with the merger of the Miltona Creamery Association and Urbank Cooperative Creamery Association. Since that time it has grown to ten facilities located in Alexandria, Brandon, Browerville, Clarissa, Eagle Bend, Garfield, Henning, Hoffman, Parkers Prairie and Urbank. There are over 1500 voting members and the co-op is governed by a nine-member board of directors elected by the active members of the cooperative....
