• She is the typical small town girl who was seen playing school sports, involved in an occasional play and tending to animals on her family’s dairy farm. After Kara Trosen graduated from high school and was the Wadena County Dairy Princess in 2005, she was ready to get out of Verndale and see what the world had to offer. She studied music in Iowa and after one semester moved to Moorhead for two semesters taking speech pathology. Then she moved to Colorado and acquired her cosmetology license. She returned to Verndale and now works at Mane Hair Design.
• If you ask Reverend Fred Hartley why he went into youth ministry, he will simply tell you that it was his love for Jesus and for teens that drew him into it. Hartley is the new youth pastor at the Verndale Alliance Church which is part of the Christian Missionary Alliance. You could say Hartley has been training for ministry for most of his life as he grew up the son of a pastor.
