Girls record first win over Park Rapids

By Coach Jesse Sogge

The LPGE-B Wolves have been meeting and exceeding goals throughout the season which continued this past week.

They recorded their first win in over 5 years over Park Rapids on Monday, January 29 at a home tri-meet.

It has been a great year to say the least as the new head coach! The energy, effort, drive and dedication this team has is amazing! And their recent victories are despite senior Rhiannon Nelson learning she is out for the remainder of the season due to a hip injury and freshman, varsity competitor Kloe Petron, limited in her role due to illness.

The varsity team also got their season high score on January 29—that is until they broke it again on Thursday night February 1 at their second home tri-meet of the week.

Browerville junior Kailee Sandbakken continues to lead the team. Sandbakken took 3rd overall on 1/29 with a score of 30.55 with Madison Parker, LPGE finishing 6th; and Sandbakken taking 7th all-around on 2/1 scoring 30.20 with Makenzie Parker, LPGE, right behind her in 8th.

The JV team recorded their first and second victories of the season topping Park Rapids/Nevis on 1/29 and Rush City/Pine City on 2/1.

Sophomores Faith Petron (24.70) and Heidi Lenz (20.70) , both of Browerville, took 2nd in JV all-around on 1/29 and 2/1, respectively.

The team travels to Melrose Friday February 9 for their conference meet and then onto the Sections meet February 17 in Perham.
