Hard work and faith lead Lisson family as Farm Family of the Year

by Trinity Gruenberg

The 2024 Todd County Farm Family is the Lisson family of rural Browerville.

Trevor and Alexandria Lisson and their young children Kolbe, Sophia, Marie, and Thomas reside on a beautiful farm that overlooks over 100 acres of corn, soybeans, alfalfa, and their 52 head of cows.

Trevor was raised on a dairy farm in Staples where his parents, Albert and Carol, milked until this spring.

Alexandria is from Jamestown, North Dakota.

Trevor and Alexandria met through their friends who set them up on a date. They had their first date at the annual rodeo in Verndale, Alexandria’s first-ever rodeo.

After the couple married, they rented a place for a few years before finding the perfect farm located in Browerville five years ago. The previous owners, Todd and Jean Pollema, gifted them a sign which is displayed at the end of the driveway.

Alexandria quickly adjusted to rural farm life.

“It was faith in the Lord and Trevor because I had no idea what it would entail,” she said.

When the pair was dating, she would visit him at the farm while he was milking to get a better feel for farm life....
