The Minnesota State Auctioneers Association convention was held in Red Wing the week of January 18-20. During the convention, four members were inducted into the Minnesota Auctioneers Hall Of Fame. Local Auctioneer Quinten Burt was honored to be inducted along with Richard Houghton from Red Wing, Patrick Ediger from Belle Plain and Tom Lamp from Annandale. The plaque reads: Presented for his outstanding commitment to excellence and contributions to the auctioneering profession—inducted January 2001.

The Clarissa Historical Committee hosted the Mid-Minnesota Association meeting on January 17. Representatives from Wadena, Eagle Bend, Long Prairie, and Bertha museums had the opportunity to tour the new Clarissa facility prior to meeting at the city hall. Discussion centered on ethnic genealogy searches, using foreign language interpreters and oral history procedures.

Russel Lerfald retired from the Field Service Department of Land O’Lakes after working in the dairy industry for 45 years.

Specialist Four Janet E. Cook has been selected as one of five “fully qualified” women on the 17 member roster of the Army Color Guard at the Academy of Health Sciences at Fort Sam Houston in Texas where she is serving with the United States Army.
