In Focus

Now that Thanksgiving is over, it’s on to Christmas and all the chaos that comes with it.

I spent the four-ish day weekend decorating the inside of my house. It’s apparent I have some kind of decorating addiction...especially with Christmas trees...most of which are done, except two small ones that will be upstairs.

All of my trees have a theme. I have an eight foot white flocked tree that is decorated in white, silver and blue. Also, a six foot green tree that is red, white and gold, which we call the “Dave tree” as most of the ornaments came from him. There is a six foot black tree that is decorated in red and gold with poinsettias which is my tree, there’s a seven foot green tree that is red and green, a five foot white tree that is decorated in pink, the three foot shark tree which is mom’s tree, the little one foot unicorn tree, the three foot angel tree, and the four foot Santa tree. Upstairs I have a three foot red tree for the bedroom and a little one foot silver tree for my office, as well as three more, I think, in the hallway.

Yes, I have a Christmas tree problem. But I enjoy the different colors and the lights, especially with it being pitch black outside at 5 p.m. What’s the point of celebrating a holiday if we don’t get a little crazy with decorations?

The older cats know better than to mess with the trees, but they are allowed to sleep under them as they often do. The kittens, on the other hand, are still learning. Salem in particular loves to climb the trees. The other two tiny terrorists, Sassy and Peanut, attempt to bat off the ornaments, knocking over the small trees. But they will learn, just like the others have.

The holiday weekend was great to get my decorating done, the house cleaned and catch up on some other stuff before the holiday events pick up.

I hope you feel “caught up” on things as the holiday draws near so that you can attend upcoming events and enjoy time with family and friends.
