The healthcare system is broken, and we’ve known this for some time. Obama attempted to fix it, but it only became more complicated. No one should have been fined for not having insurance. The constantly increasing rates and high deductible to make it affordable make you question the value of having an insurance plan. And after paying the deductible, you’re still stuck with high out-of-pocket fees. We’re paying for coverage, we shouldn’t have to pay out-of-pocket.
Many people are caught in a difficult situation: their income must remain low enough to qualify for free or less expensive healthcare through the state. However, if they earn even a penny above that income threshold, they find themselves having to pay for a healthcare plan that costs more than any pay raise could cover.
The entire system seems like fraud. The only winners are the insurance CEOs.
There’s also the ongoing push for universal healthcare, which sounds great in theory but...
In Canada, you are assigned a doctor, and if you don’t like them, good luck trying to change that. Wait times to see a doctor can stretch from weeks to months; for the elderly or seriously ill, these delays can be fatal. It’s not uncommon for those in dire need of treatment to come to the U.S. for help instead.
On the other hand, China seems to have a better handle on universal healthcare, utilizing a mix of public and government funding. Although we aren’t a communist state—despite some opinions to the contrary—it’s difficult to say exactly how their system works.
The astonishment expressed by people on RedNote about Americans having to pay for an ambulance ride or an emergency room visit is telling.
Political battles and budget cuts at both state and federal levels will significantly impact this situation. No one should be left without financial or healthcare security. This insanity needs to end. I’m tired of seeing people treated like pawns in a game played by wealthy politicians. Many individuals are forced into poverty or find it impossible to escape from it.
It often seems like everything is designed to make the rich richer while the working class gets continuously screwed over.
Healthcare needs to be affordable for everyone.
If politicians want to save money, they should start by reducing their own salaries.
