Lady Pirates claim victory over Tigers and Bears and fall to Braves

Verndale 56-PRB 49

The Verndale Pirates Girls Basketball Team picked up their first win of the season when they defeated the Pine River-Backus Tigers 56-49.

PRB jumped out to a quick 10-2 lead, but the Pirates settled into the game and had a 26-23 lead at the half. Verndale led the entire second half, making free-throws near the end of the game. Verndale made 16 free-throws, while the Tigers made 7.

Reagen Ludovissie finished with a season-high 21 points, while Taylor Johnson added 12. Olivia Stanley and Katie Blaha both finished in double digits in the rebounding category, grabbing 11 and 10 boards. . .
