To the Editor:

Our U.S. Representative to the United States Congress is a Republican, right? Let’s imagine she is, for the sake of argument.

I voted for Republican Richard Nixon and my Dad thought Barry Goldwater and Dwight Eisenhower were heroes. We voted for these guys, in part, because they were fiscal conservative. They thought the U.S. government should limit its spending while still serving Americans.

But our U.S. Representative recently bragged up her support for the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, which was called One Big Beautiful Bill last year and this year its being called the Working Families Tax Cuts Act.

Whatever Representative Fischbach wants to call it, this legislation will vastly expand our country’s debt. Sure, some families and small businesses will get a tax break and our nation’s billionaires will get a huge tax break but at a tremendous increase in America’s debt.

I just don’t think that real Republicans would support that huge debt increase.
