Looking Back


BHV wrestlers traveled to Pine River with the goal of winning the Park Region Individual Championship. Because of illness the Raiders were forced to forfeit at 160 and replace Jake Richter at 103 pounds. Jake Oyster replaced Richter and wrestled Chad Rhoads of Parkers Prairie in the first round and lost an exciting 9-6 decision. The Raiders were able to capture their fifth championship because they recorded five more pins than Ottertail Central.

The February Festival of Health held annually at the Northwest Technical College in Wadena will take place on Saturday, February 8 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. This year’s event will focus on the theme “Good health from head to toe”. As a major attraction, Mike Morris of the Minnesota Vikings will be on hand.


75 Years Ago

February 6, 1947

Pvt. Dale R. Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ruth Miller of Bertha, has recently arrived in Korea and is assigned to the 20th Infantry Regiment, a part of the Red Star Sixth Infantry Division on occupational duty in southern Korea.

The Bertha Independent Basketball team decked out in its brand new, flashy uniforms, will tangle with New York Mills Independents on the local floor this evening, February 6. A preliminary game between two squads from the school team will play. A small admission will be charged with proceeds being applied toward the new uniforms.
