The First National Bank of Bertha has been a part of Bertha’s history for 95 years. When it was incorporated in 1904, it was one block south of its present location. The original building still stands today and is now home to the Bertha Museum. The bank will celebrate its 95th birthday on Friday, July 9, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. with a picnic and refreshments for the community.

Diane and Galen Schultz are celebrating 20 years as owners of Schultz Drug. They will have an anniversary open house on Friday, July 9, complete with a “cap exchange.” They will swap a new Schultz Drug Anniversary hat for an old cap.

The second series of five amateur contests sponsored by the Bertha Commercial Club was held last Saturday night before a large and appreciative audience. After a lengthy deliberation the judges awarded first prize to a vocal and instrumental duet by Kenneth Kuhnke and Lillian Homale. Second prize went to Douglas Anderson with a vocal solo, and third prize to Edith Taylor, also with a vocal solo.
