Phyllis Hewitt Miles, her brothers and cousins and their families made a trek back to what Phyllis lightly refers to as “hallowed ground” to join the Hewitt Centennial Celebration. They marched in the parade carrying a banner that read “Hewitt Ancestors.” Their great-grandfather was Henry Hewitt, for whom the town of Hewitt is named.

The Bertha-Hewitt School Board voted to apply to participate in the Fast Break to Learning Grant Program for the 1999-2000 school year. The purpose of the grant program, which has been promoted by Governor Ventura, is to encourage children to eat breakfast at school.
50 Years Ago
June 28, 1949
Next Sunday will mark a memorable milestone in the history of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Hewitt when the congregation will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the church. Two morning services will be held at 9 and 10:30. Reverend AJ Krestzchmar is the pastor. The morning sermon will be presented by Pastor G. Eschenbacher, Paulina, Iowa. The sermon during the afternoon service will be given by Reverend E.A. Schuett.

Following an official inspection of his herd by an official inspector authorized by the Holstein-Friesian Association of America, G. Bruce Naylor is the owner of a total of 10 officially classified Holstein-Friesian dairy animals. This is the first time the herd has been classified for this type under the National Association’s Herd Classification program.
