A Memorial Day service was held in the Bertha-Hewitt School gymnasium. The Bertha American Legion color guard led the Memorial Day parade from the Legion Hall to the school. The Bertha-Hewitt Marching Band performed during the parade.

The first graduating class of the new millennium received their diplomas Friday evening. Tracy Schultz gave opening remarks, Katrinah Rach and Alexis Johnson gave the student commencement addresses, and Daryn Kramer gave the commencement closing remarks. School Board Members Lynn Hagen, Douglas Ostlund and Peter Wallner presented the diplomas. Robert Sieling introduced the honor students and presented the class of 2000.

June 1, 1950
Frank King, Todd County attorney, and his partner, O.R. Fenske, announced they will open an office this week in Bertha in the Masonic building, formerly the Bertha Hotel.

Memorial Day was observed in Bertha with the usual parade, a program at the school and memorial services in the park. Speaker was Carl C. Carlson, editor of the Long Prairie Leader. Carlson stressed the fact that we honor the fallen war heroes but also this should be the time to take stock of ourselves to see if we are worthy of the sacrifice they made.
