Picture are Bertha-Hewitt’s 2000 Homecoming Queen Sarah Sieling, daughter of Bob and Deb Sieling, and her escort Billy Davis, son of David and Anna Davis. Sarah was crowned during homecoming coronation ceremonies on Tuesday, September 26. Several special dress-up days were observed during the week to celebrate homecoming. The girls volleyball team played two games during the week and the football team tackled and defeated the Parkers Prairie Panthers on Friday night with a score of 28-6.

Twenty-one Bertha-Hewitt students were listed in the “Gathering of Champions” celebration program and honored at the Minnesota State Fair. Learning is the most important work of people. Minnesota is built on extraordinary feats of the mind. This is the 10th year that the MN Academics of Excellence Foundation has celebrated the champions of learning but this is the first year that Bertha-Hewitt has participated. It includes students who are consistent top performers, have shown significant academic improvement and have demonstrated outstanding performances in an academic challenge. The selections were: Autumn Aeling, Blane Anderson, Ethan Bakken, Allison Becker, Travis Dittberner, Nathan Foote, Adam Freyholtz, Amanda Kneisl, Lindsey Kneisl, Nathan Haase, Emily Mikkelson, Molly Moenkedick, Mallory Precht, Megan Precht, Marcus Riewer, Michael Riewer, Patrick Riewer, Austin Selvey, Aaron Templin, Corrina Tindal and Adam Voge.

An announcement was made this week by Ted Hukriede of the Farmers Feed and Produce that he has bought the interest in the feed business from his brother Emmit.

Bertha acquired a new business with the opening of the LaFollette Garage in the building formerly occupied by the Bertha Motor Co.
