Dave Ruby was at the November 13 Bertha City Council meeting. Ruby talked to the council about the schedule for the Bertha Community Center’s completion. The week of the 13th, they plan to get the roof metal and wall metal put up. The week of the 20th, they hope to have plumbing and electrical roughed in. They are looking at a January 1 completion date.

Kent Smith, president and owner of Diamond Tool and Engineering in Bertha, was honored by the Initiative Foundation on October 26. More than 170 guests were at the Little Falls Ballroom to watch the presentation of the first annual Awards for Outstanding Community Initiative of which Kent was a recipient.

November 23, 1950
The annual Union Thanksgiving service will highlight the observance of the holiday here in Bertha. The service will be held at the Congregational Church. The subject of the service will be “Thank God for Our Community” and will be given by Reverend W.F. Ratzlaff of the Church of God. Reverend E.H. Warber of the Peace Church will have devotions and the host pastor, Reverend George Harz, will give the liturgy.
