News from Bertha and Hewitt's Pasts
November 29, 2000
Joseph De Sciose, a photographer from Manhattan, New York, has taken literally thousands of pictures. He has had many pictures published, but he never had one of his photos published in the New York Times until he submitted one of the Bertha-Hewitt Color Guard getting ready for a competition in Milaca. Band Director Ken Nelson received a letter from a former student who now lives in New York who was elated when he saw the picture in the magazine. De Sciose took the picture for a book he is working on about marching bands. The girls pictured were Alexis Johnson, Chelsea Wicht, Tracy Bowman and Rita Anderson.
