Selvey’s on Second, formerly The Pie Pantry, located on Main Street in Bertha is under new ownership. Dave and Beth Selvey of Bertha took over the business on October 15. They purchased the business from Joyce Moore. The Selvey’s are both from the area and decided to get into the restaurant business because “they wanted to make Bertha their home.”

The squeal of brakes, the sound of breaking glass, the horrid crunch of metal hitting metal. These are some of the sounds the Bertha-Hewitt B.R.A.G. Team is fighting to prevent. B.R.A.G stands for Bears Resistance Against GAC (Guns, Gangs, Alcohol and Chemicals). There are currently 14 young women at the school who participate regularly in the program which began about three years ago. They are: Makayla Rach, Amanda Shamp, Krysta Lambert, Holly Bertram, Amber Bowman, Stacy Denny, Monica Messer, Becky Miller, Laura Freyholtz, Jessie Elgin, President Becky Shaw, Jessica Hagen, Ashley Rach and Vice President Helen Adams.
