Pete’s Lumber has remodeled the former Orin’s Hardware building and is open as a hardware store in Bertha.

David Anderson was recently honored with a plaque in appreciation for his 25 years of committed and dedicated service to the Hewitt Fire Department. Anderson retired from the department on October 1, 2000.

January 18, 1951
Architect plans for a new church building were accepted Monday evening by the voting members of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Construction is expected to begin in the spring. Members of the building committee are Adolph Herseth, A.J. Hilpert, Clinton Cook, Henry Harms, Edmund Hartung, Arthur Potratz, Wm. Heuer, Reinhardt Haase, Fred Ziegenhagen, George Quanbeck and Rev. A.J. Kretzschmar.

The stork had a busy year at Thiel Hospital in 1950, according to Genevieve Rapatz, hospital superintendent. There were 244 babies born during this year, 134 boys and 110 girls. There were three sets of twins. The smallest infant weighed 3 lbs. 3 oz., and the largest weighed 10 lbs. 6oz.
